Would it be absurd to even think that some of the countries we are buying our oil from...?

are bribing some of our politicians and environmentalist groups to oppose all efforts for us to be energy self-sufficient? Which countries are we buying oil from the most? I understand that developing countries like China and India will take some of the slack but not enough to make a dent. We have the potential to be an oil exporter ourselves. What do the moguls of Dubai, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have to say about this realistic possibility?
