Is there something wrong with my phone?

I'll have my phone on, and it'll show up with the screen that it shows when I'm turning on my phone. Also, today, a message came up that says "Use genuine battery. Power off:" Then a countdown from 10 to 0. I have an LG VX 5500, and Verizon is my carrier. Is something wrong, and can I fix it?
