What is the point of life? Meaning what does it mean to be alive and is any of this worth it?

I have been doing a lot of studying and reading about the universe, the cosmos and have looked at the theories about parallel universe and the endless space/time and all that makes up everything, and even recently about the multiple universes that exist added to that the craziness of multiple realities..It's enough to drive someone insane! We'll what this had led me to re-examine has been, What is life on this magnificently insignificant planet( and truly compared to everything that is), and what does it matter? I mean I don't want to come off as someone who has lost value in the human spirit, and potential..but seeing as to all that exists..we really honestly don't matter in the grand scope of the universe. For instance, if the Earth that we hold so dear, was to vanish, due to solar radiation, global warming, asteroids, you name it; nothing in the universe would change, nor would "the universe" even care. If we were gone, the universe would still go about its business and that's that. What I'm trying to say is..is any of this worth it? Are the accomplishments of the greatest people in civilization say, Alexander the Great or Cyrus II of Persia mean anything?? Does EARTH and US mean anything?? To me somehow, none of this matters...what's your take on it?
